Manicures began more than thousands of years ago. It is a cosmetic beauty treatment not only for the finger nails but also for the hands. It can be easily done at home or you can also go to salon to get it done. Nowadays the manicure has become more popular and common. More prominence is now given to accurate preparation of nails and to keep them well and healthy.
The method usually includes soaking hands in a softening substance and the application of a moisturising hand and nail lotion or cream. Manicure treatment takes about thirty minutes to one hour to be done.

Paraffin wax manicure treatments are a rare treatment in most nail salons. In Paraffin wax treatments. Hands are dipped in melted and slight warm Paraffin wax for softening and moisturising hands which allows absorption of emollients and essential oils. Lotion is rubbed on the hand then dipped into the paraffin bath more than once to allow a thicker wax coat. After that they are wrapped in either plastic bag or glove or aluminium foil. Then they are left for few minutes before the paraffin is cooled and dried. Fruit waxes such as apple, strawberry, and peach are also often used in salons.
A hot oil manicure is another type of manicure that clears the cuticles and makes them softer. It suits and works well more for dry and parches hand skin and improves nails that are fragile and brittle and make them soft and supple. Different types of oils are used such as mineral oil or olive oil etc
Other nail treatments include the application of artificial nail tips or a hard gel or painting of pictures or designs with different techniques on the nails etc. The use of good hand and nail moisturisers and clear polish proteins is essential and beneficial for ideal growth and appearance as well but using hardening and harsh treatments and chemicals on your nails will make the nail brittle and easily breakable.
